Who can apply?

Financial Requirement

Financial requirement for main applicant above 30 years of age, choose 1 category only:

INCOME CATEGORY

For individuals, a monthly offshore income of RM10,000 (Salary / Pension Fund) is required.

 

For couples, a combined monthly offshore income of RM15,000 (Salary / Pension Fund) is required.

SAVINGS CATEGORY

A saving fund of RM100,000 is required for individuals.

 

A saving fund of RM200,000 is required for couples.

Fixed Deposit

The main applicant must deposit RM500,000 in any local bank in Sarawak, either before or after receiving the letter of approval.

 

After one year in the programme, applicant may withdraw up to 50% of the deposit for purchasing a residential house, a car, medical expenses, or children’s education in Sarawak.

How to Apply

We will assist you with the sample format, etc.
  1. Refer to this checklist for the documents required. 

Submit your application and wait for approval. It may take 90 days from the date of submission.

Provide a copy of your passport. A copy of previous passport is also compulsory if applicant’s current passport is less than 1 year old. For both current and previous (if applicable) passport, every page is required to be copied and submitted.

  • All documents above must be in English (otherwise certified translations must be provided) and sent to us as hard copies.
  • All copy documents must be certified as true copies, we can certify true copies as required.
  • The bank can certify bank statements with their original bank stamp.
  • If any original documents are sent then no certification is required.

Regulations

Participants of the S-MM2H programme are not eligible to work full-time but may work part-time (limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week) in professional sectors approved by the ILMU through MTCP. Eligible sectors include education, banking & securities, manufacturing and medical.

 

S-MM2H participants are also allowed to be minority partners in joint ventures (JVs) with local partners, provided the business operates in sectors approved by ILMU. Participants must own a maximum of 49% of the total paid-up capital, which must be at least RM350,000.

 

Additionally, all applications to work under the S-MM2H programme must be submitted to the State Authority for approval.

 

Participants must not engage in activities deemed sensitive to the local community or that pose a security risk to the country.

All applicants whose Multiple Entry Visa(MEV) has expired on the fifth year, can extend their MEV for another five years. He/She MUST submit the following documents to Immigration Department, Sarawak for consideration:

  1. Letter of Intent by The Principal.
  2. Original & Copy of Applicant’s Passport.
  3. Form IMM. 55 (1 Copy).
  4. Form IMM. 38 (1 Copy, if Applicable) – for countries with visa requirement.
  5. A copy of certified Fixed Deposit statement from the bank.
  6. A copy of certified copy of Conditional Approval Letter
  7. A copy of original Medical Report (RB II Form) Report EACH (separated form for spouse)
  • The main applicant must stay in Sarawak for at least 30 days per year (cumulatively) to qualify for visa renewal.
  • Permits are valid for five years and can be renewed for an additional five years.
  • After 10 years, applicants must submit a new application.
  • For renewal, existing participants must continue meeting the existing requirements.

All participants who wish to terminate their S-MM2H programme should first submit their applications to Malaysian Immigration Department, Sarawak, then, Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak for the withdrawal of Fixed Deposit.

The following documents must be submitted to Malaysian Immigration Department, Sarawak to terminate the programme:

  1. Letter of Intent from applicant
  2. Original copy of applicants’ passports
  3. Original & copy of One Way Flight Ticket

All applicants should submit the following documents to the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak for withdrawal of Fixed Deposit:

  1. Letter of Intent from the Applicant
  2. Termination Letter from the Immigration Department of Sarawak
  3. A copy of S-MM2H Conditional Approval Letter
  4. A copy of Applicant’s Front Page Passport
  5. A copy of the Applicant’s S-MM2H Sticker that has been terminated by the Immigration Department of Malaysia, Sarawak
  6. A copy of the latest Fixed Deposit Statement
